    Insurance

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

We’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

    • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
    • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
    • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
    • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

    Fees and Insurance:

Most therapy sessions are 50-60 minutes in length unless otherwise specified. Shorter sessions may be available under certain circumstances.

Three payment plans for services rendered are available:

    • Fee-for-service (cash or debit/credit card), and
    • Insurance plan reimbursements
      • “In-Network” provider
      • or as an “Out-of-Network” provider.

Fee-for-Service therapy sessions vary in cost between $150-$200 per session. In some limited cases space permitted (i.e. currently enrolled grad students, senior /retired citizens), can be offered a sliding scale. Ask about a discount for multiple sessions paid in advance(i.e. monthly payment plan).

    In-Network provider for:

    • Kaiser Permanente
    • Mental Health Network ( MHN )
    • CIGNA
    • Triwest

Please contact your insurance carrier before your first appointment to determine if you have a co-payment and/or a medical deductible. If you choose to use your insurance to pay for therapeutic services, please note that they require that I provide them with a mental health diagnosis of the “patient”.

Out-of-Network provider if you have a PPO plan. If you choose this method of payment, I will collect the full fee at the start of the session. I can provide you with a superbill which you submit to your insurance carrier so that they reimburse you directly at your policy rate, based on your research from talking to your insurance carrier.

Initial Appointment: A credit card number may be obtained for retainer purposes. No Shows and Cancellations without a 24-hour advance notice will automatically incur an $75 fee. In addition, any unpaid balances on your account and/or any fees associated with services rendered not covered by your insurance ( if applicable ) will be charged to your credit card. A receipt of the charge made will be emailed or mailed to your address.

Low-Cost Opportunities: If you do not have insurance or are interested in paying out-of-pocket our sister agency Metta Center for Psychotherapy and Wellbeing (metta4wellbeing.org) offers low-cost rates using a sliding scale which requires proof of income. Most of these services are provided by skilled pre-licensed clinicians under supervision. Their number is (562) 457-3045 or (310) 402-8510.
